Ladd set up a new email account so that MC relevant emails go to us all: mc@morganstar.com. We made good use of it today--41 emails!
ANNA posted Tasks for Jan and Feb on this blog. Dad can't access it and needs help.
LADD suggested creating a google blog devoted to fundraising on which we and others would post ideas and links--especially to our site. This would give us a presence outside our site and draw attention to the idea of video for fundraising. Ladd has a lot of good ideas for this. DAD suggested coming up with a catchy name for this blog. Ladd will explain to us what the terms targeted content and owning key research terms mean.
JANE has started a google spreadsheet named MC Nonprofit Research with names of journals and articles we should look at to help us get to know the nonprofit world.
ELLEN reminded us that she has a subscription to the Chronicle of Philanthropy, a major nonprofit resource. Login is morganstar. Password is morgan.
ANNA suggested we get Chronicle of Philanthropy to do an article on us. DAD said that was great and came up with a list of laudatory and fascinating items for the article. ELLEN suggested we wait until we do more projects as a team. Good idea.
DAD said let's get BYU alumni magazine to do a profile on us, too. And maybe Stanford. This would be great free advertising. LADD had a host of good suggestions. This is something we will want to put together once we have done more nonprofit work.
DAD suggested we check out
ANNA forwarded an email from Haitian Roots saying they made $10K in December and that some of that is because of the e-card. Somebody excerpted two sentences from the email that we could use as a testimonial on our site, and DAD asked ANNA to get permission to do that from Haitian Roots.
DAD lamented the fact that it is so expensive to attend the Nonprofit Technology Network Conference (NTEN) in San Francisco in April. Only four booths left. See3 and Free Range Studios will be there. But the trade show is only open on Sunday! Ellen said we must figure out a way to get in free--maybe produce a slide show for an exhibitor and have them pass out our pamphlet--which we haven't created yet. DAD tried to sell them a video on the conference, but they were already working with someone else. We need to work on this.
JANE sent this link
JANE got a great quote from the Chronicle of Philanthropy that we should use on the website:
"Increasingly, audio and video on the Web are critical tools [for nonprofit groups] for communicating to people about the work they're doing, and I only see that intensifying," Susan Rosenberg (American Jewish World Service's director of communications)
I hope I didn't miss anybody's contribution. Please add it if I did.
It was a day full of ideas. Thanks to you all for the good thinking in the midst of all you have to do. Lv Dd
